SNCF Proximités introduces two new widgets, and information leaps forward. It's for everyone and it's free.

Widget, what is it? Translate Windows Gadget and you get: an application that installs itself on your computer in two clicks and keeps you informed at every moment without having to connect to the Internet.

Useful! Here are the two new widgets of the day. The first, "Next Departure", gives you in real time the 12 next train departures (TGV, TER, Corail InterCités, and Corail) from one of 2,500 stations in memory. Even better: it also tells you the delays and cancelled trains--one more reason to get it. The second, "Itinerary Lookup" (available soon), will show you the shortest way by train from one city to another.

Directions for use. Connect to the TER website and download the widget that interests you (or both) onto your computer's desktop. It's very simple and completely free. You're looking for a timetable or an itinerary? No more need to browse the Internet! Click on the icon, ask, and you will know.

So, a gadget?Starting now, you have direct, permanent access to up-to-the-minute information, and all the SNCF offers at your fingertips.
