About 110 million euros. How many Super Lotto draws is that? And how many dreams of new services that will not come true?
200 million euros in 2002

When you climb stairs that could have been an escalator. When you go up to a water fountain that leaves you thirsty or a trolley that leaves you standing with your luggage under your arm. When you look at an information screen that just says: fare-dodging makes a fool out of you.
200 life-sized trompe-l’œil graphics tickle the nerves of people who pay
while a poster warns fare-dodgers: SNCF is taking 5 harsh measures: for example, charges pressed systematically against those who repeatedly take the train without paying.
181 million in 2003: that is still too much
In the first six months of 2003, fare dodging dropped by 15% on intercity routes and the TER (regional transport), and by 5% on Transilien.
SNCF has been running a publicity campaign since 2004 to acknowledge this improvement and keep up the pressure by adding a new landmark measure: a fixed penalty fine of 35 euros (30 on Transilien). You have been warned!
161 million in 2004, 151 in 2005, 110 in 2006…
