The young winners of the second "rail passenger citizenship" competition get the chance to work on their artistic talent with professional artistes. When the SNCF goes talent spotting, it does it for

Poets, playwrights, designers... all promoting citizenship. The SNCF's second "Rail Passenger Citizenship" competition was launched last September, offering primary and middle school pupils the chance to express themselves creatively on the themes of citizenship, safety and the environment in the world of rail travel. Various modes of artistic expression were possible: slam poetry, drama or an illustrated album.

Initial regional selection panels selected regional winners across France. A nationwide panel comprising judges from the SNCF, the French National Education system as well as artists, met on 29 April to select the winners:

- Slam (primary): class from Jean Jaurès 1 primary school, Epinay-sur-Seine (93).
- Illustrated album: class from Henri Wallon primary school, Trappes (78).
- Slam (middle school) : class from Pré Bréart middle school, Bazancourt (51).
- Drama sketch: class from Berlioz middle school, Colmar (68).

The 2 classes that won in the slam poetry category also put in a fantastic performance at the Inter-schools National Grand Slam contest in Bobigny on 19 June. The class from Jean Jaurès School in Epinay-sur-Seine won its Primary school category.
The National Inter-school Grand Slam was part of the Poetry Grand Slam that has been organised in Bobigny over the last ten years by the Slam Productions association, in partnership with the city council.

The 3rd national "Rail Passenger Citizenship" competition will be launched in September 2009.

"Rail Passenger Citizenship” comes under the partnership agreement executed by the SNCF and the French Ministry for National Education in June 2006. In 2008-2009, more than 460 of our employees met over 200,000 children and teenagers in primary, middle and high schools, in order to teach them the importance of following passenger safety and conduct rules on the railway.
